How does SpeakLike work?

SpeakLike helps you improve your spoken English by imitating real voices from public figures, viral clips, and motivational speeches. Each lesson contains exercises where you listen, speak, and build sentences. Our AI-powered scoring system evaluates your pronunciation, accuracy, and fluency in real time.

How does the scoring system work?

When you complete a speaking exercise, your speech is analyzed for accuracy (how closely your words match the original), pronunciation clarity, and fluency (natural pacing and rhythm). You receive a score from 0 to 100 for each exercise. Your best score for each exercise is saved, and lessons are rated with 1 to 3 stars based on your average performance.

What types of exercises are available?

Each lesson includes three types of exercises:

  • Listening — Listen to the original audio and answer comprehension questions.
  • Speaking — Repeat the sentence and get scored on your pronunciation and accuracy.
  • Sentence Builder — Arrange jumbled words into the correct sentence order.

Is my voice recorded and stored?

No. Your device's speech recognition processes your voice locally on your device. We do not record, store, or transmit raw audio recordings to our servers. Only the resulting text transcript and exercise scores are saved.

How do streaks work?

Your streak counts the number of consecutive days you complete at least one exercise. If you miss a day, your current streak resets to zero. Your longest streak is always saved on your profile. Keep practicing daily to build your streak!

How do I cancel my subscription?

SpeakLike subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). To cancel:

  • iOS: Open Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions > SpeakLike > Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: Open Google Play > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > SpeakLike > Cancel subscription.

After cancellation, you will retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account directly from the app by going to Settings > Delete Account. For detailed instructions and information about what gets deleted, visit our Account Deletion page.

Alternatively, you can email support@speaklike.app to request manual account deletion.

The app is not working properly. What should I do?

Try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Ensure microphone permissions are granted for speaking exercises.
  • Restart the app or your device.
